Review of seminar in Dnyansadhana College.
How many times does one wonder that am I leading my life in the best possible way? In today’s fast competitive world one only runs behind money, career & other ambition in life. But what actually makes you do this entire running around in this mad rat race is your healthy body & mind. and this can help you lead your life in the best possible way!!
Dnyansadhana college did the same and gave us the golden opportunity to create awareness regarding nutrition & exercise among their students as well as staff.
The seminar on "NUTRITION FACTS" was held at college on 3rd October 2007 at 11.00am.
After the welcome speech we heard from the principal Dr. Vishe who was highly supportive of this initiative. He was well aware of the importance and diet in their day to day lifestyle & was eager to share the same with the student and staff.
Dietician & Asst.Manager Girija started the seminar with introductory speech saying eating right is more important than just eating. Do you really know what the best food is! The answer is “NO”. She also gave insight about the Talwalkars gym and its facilities. This was followed by a talk by our dietician Deepti.
The topics discussed for seminar were:
- Balanced diet
- Lifestyle modification.
- Importance of exercise & yoga.
Deepti gave a talk on balanced diet and explained the importance of food pyramid and multinutritonal deficiency. Here we also included quizzing round of game called “FOOD PYRAMID WHEEL” to assess the knowledge of the audience and made interactive session with student who were taking keen interest & participation.
We then went to the next level of presentation which included lifestyle modification, effects of junk foods & eating disorder which was spoken by dietician Nikhila.
Stress is seen in all walks of life- it could be kids, adolescent & adult. Thus having a balanced diet & avoiding the disease like obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes & hypertension was discussed by the dietician Yesha .Healthy eating tips were also given to avoid eating disorder & the health issues.
Personal trainer Vishal spoke about importance of exercise & yoga in our day to day life. Where exercise is a key to disease prevention & maintaining optimum health.
The presentation was interactive with students who were taking interest. We also conducted a quiz which drew a tremendous & enthusiastic response from the student & staff. Later they were asking quires regarding the diet. These quires were solved by explaining details of the diet at a grass root level.
The overall response was excellent. It gave us immense pleasure explaining the student & solving their quires. It was more like a two way conversation. Our visit was a success as the objective of nutrition facts was fulfilled.
